Kill Devil Hills is probably the most commercialized town on the Outer Banks. With that being said it is still light years away from an overcrowded, chain-restaurant on every corner kind of beach town that you would find in a place like Myrtle Beach. Kill Devil Hills finished beach nourishment in 2017 and the wide, beautiful beaches are great for families and young adults looking for more entertainment during their vacation week. On the opposite side of the sandbar, you will find the beautiful Roanoke Sound which attracts a wide range of water-sports, fishing and boating. When you come to Kill Devil Hills, prepare to eat, drink and be happy! Kill Devil Hills is home to some of the best restaurants on the Outer Banks!

THE BEST IN DINING

When you first enter Stop & Shop you will think that we have directed you to a gas station to eat. Which might be a little bit true...but walk to the back of the store and order yourself a sandwich. You won't regret it!

The Kill Devil Grill is the cutest restaurant on the exterior. On the interior you can enjoy the best Southern Fried Chicken Salad this side of the Mason Dixon.

The Bonzer Shack is a great local hangout complete with great food, amazing daily specials and a great bar. We love hanging out here in the evenings for corn-hole and ring toss and general outdoor ruckus.

MamaKwans is a local favorite with the best fish tacos and greatest service. You will be so happy that you tried out this Pacific food on the Atlantic coast.

We dine at JK's Steakhouse as often as we can for the best piece of filet and the freshest ingredients. We love the service, the staff and the cozy environment. Don't even get me started on their wine list! This place is amazing!

Rooster's Southern Kitchen is our teenagers favorite place to eat. He goes for the lightly fried catfish plate and I love their brunch! Rooster's has great local music and specials like bourbon tasting! Fair-warning, you're going to want to redecorate your entire home once you see how beautiful this place is inside!

You can't leave town without grabbing a fresh, made to order donut at Duck Donuts!

The Outer Banks Brewing Station is the first wind-powered brewery in the US! They take pride in each dish that hits the table and each glass filled with one of their beers. Plus, they have great events like Beer Yoga. How does life get any better than Beer Yoga? The Brewing Station also has a great late night crowd for the party-animal that comes out while you're on vacation!

StackEm High Pancakes is an amazing place for breakfast. Our kiddos just can't get enough of this place! We love it for the affordable food and that they give SO much back to our Outer Banks community, especially the kids!

Slice Pizzeria is the best of the best! Their selection for a walk-in slice is epic but the flavor is even better! They deliver in KDH too! Throw in an order of garlic knots, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Kill Devil Custard and Fries is our favorite spot to hit after the beach. We love spending our time in the sunshine and swimming in the waves but sometimes you need a true re-charge! Head over to Kill Devil Custard for a hotdog, french friends and a cone before you head home to put your kiddos to bed. Beware, you will want to do this EVERY single day on vacation because their hotdogs are addicting. Yes, I said that! Their hotdogs are addicting!

SHOP LOCAL - SHOP SMALL

While you might be tempted to stop in to Super Wings or a larger than life beach goods store, be sure to check out some of the smaller mom and pops as you drive down the beach road.

Nags Head Hammock's to find something great to take home. We love that they will show you exactly how the hammocks are made and you can test out so many different kinds right there in the store! Our kids love this place! Their like kids in a candy store...but with hammocks!

Kill Devil Hills Co-Op for the best local art with an opportunity to meet an artist during their shared shifts at the Co-Op!

Our favorite surf shop in Kill Devil Hills is DVO, hands down! We love that you can shop for all ages, prices ranges and that they sell so many brands. Their selection of under-water photography gear is the best on the beach too!

BE THE GOOD

Always leave a town better than you found it! Stop by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department to donate a gift certificate for a meal or donate to their station!
